Carl Franke

Head Coach

Coach Carl Franke is originally from Westtown, NY where he starred as a QB and kicker/punter for Minisink Valley HS. He was a two time 1st team All-Stater. Coach Franke was equally talented as a pitcher and center fielder for the baseball team where he still holds school records for most doubles in a season, 18 and lifetime batting average of .467. Coach earned a 4 year scholarship to go play Division 1A Baseball and 1AA Football for Wagner College, located in Staten Island, NY. Coach earned 1st team All-American honors twice as a kicker and punter for the Seahawks, and also started as a wide reciever his junior and senior years coached by now Head Coach of Mississippi State, Dan Mullen. Coach Franke has coached in Southern Utah for 12 years after graduating from Southern Utah University with a Bachelors of Science degree along with his teaching certificate. The last 3 years he has coached for the Thunder as the Offensive Coordinator and QB coach.

Coach Franke is very excited and honored to be named head coach for the Thunder entering into its 5th year. Coach is married to Lacy Newby of St. George, UT and together have a 9 year old son named CJ and a 3 year old daughter named Kenzie.
